Comments On

We have deciphered a way to allow comments in our blog, without the hassle of Spam.

You will now be able to comment on all of our future posts, and please do!! I can't seem to get the "Comments" button to come on, but it allows you to post comments if you click on the "time" link below the post. Even though I have enabled posting, changed the code in the template, notta!! I have also enabled to show posts, and it does not do that either, sorry.

If you know how to fix this, leave me a post! (Not that anyone will be able to see it, ha,ha)

Windows 7

We're going to make the leap my friends! (He says with a little trepidation!) We (OK, I) thought it would be great to get more RAM for our computers to speed things up a bit, and once I installed it, it didn't recognize the new amount. Now I'm no geeeniass, but I have put in RAM before, and it's pretty simple. Scratching my head, and trying not to look stumped to Mary Fran, I had no idea. I called the company I bought the RAM from and he informs me that because we have Windows XP 32bit, it will only recognize up to 4GB of the stuff. Would've been nice to know BEFORE I spent $650!

So...our only option is to upgrade to Windows 7, to get the full effect of my big idea! We knew we would have to eventually upgrade, but not this soon...kinda like you know you're going to have to go to the doctor, but not today!!ha,ha

Wednesday is D-Day, and I think that all will go OK, but that's what I told Mary Fran about the RAM........

Nitwit on Facebook!

Hi all,

We have heard about this new fan-dangled thingy called Facebook (OK, I've heard about it for years now, but I needed to crawl out from underneath my rock to explore it a bit more, ha,ha). We have been asked many times if we have a page, and we finally took the plunge! You can click on the link at the bottom of our homepage of our store, iff'n your interested and want to check it out. We will be using it primarily for Newsletter and new kit releases, so don't stop reading this here blog, as this is where we will still be posting our rants and raves! ha,ha

Winter Wonderland

Well its winter for those of us in the North and what comes with winter you ask.......Snow and Hockey! Here's a shot I took in the backyard of what a beautiful blanket can look like, and what I love about winter!

Notice how the snow on the ground isn't pristine, as I had my trusty sidekick dogs with me, as they enjoy a good snow as much as the next guy!ha,ha

People do the dumbest things!

Let's get it straight off the start...I mean me, not you!

I could never figure out why there was so much dog hair in the garage. Perplexed, I would scratch my head, (I'm a pretty smart guy, right?) and knowing that we use the garage to shuttle the dogs out to the dog run, I just figured that this was the cause. So I would sweep it out, and within a day, the tumbleweeds of dog fur would be blowing about the garage floor once again, clinging to the extension cords, under the floor jack, and caught under the tires on the van. (Yes, we have no children and yet have a van....any guesses why?)

Last nite as I stood in the garage, waiting for the dogs to use their "toilet" (the whole world seems to be their toilet!) I was gawking around and saw that the open-topped garbage can (reserved for depositing the dog fur from their brush, and the occasional scrap of wood) was placed, ever so carefully, right below the exhaust for the central vac cannister! Mary Fran was vacuuming and I saw the hair blasting out of the can and into the air, like snowflakes on a wintery day!! BLAM....it hit me!

Yes, after 5 years of living in the house and never solving the riddle of the dog hair in the garage, I have cracked the case, folks!

Olympics!

Or in the immortal words of Fred Flintstone..... the OLYMPROCKS!!!!

Now never let it be said that I resemble in the smallest form an athlete (nor do I play one on TV, gentle reader); however..... in two more sleeps it will all start for me and the Little General..... I have but only three words to say................

HOCKEY, HOCKEY, HOCKEY!

hahahahahhaa

Family Ties at Nitwit Collections!

Well, well, well..... I see the Little General has been sharing with all of you, hey? hahahahaha Gonna have to keep a closer eye on that feller.... or at very least erect some sort of screen so it keeps his eyes on his own paper so to speak! hahahahhaa

This new collection is all about family. I really don't know where I would be without mine (even the snoopy ones in the family like LG and his little sidekick Finn! hahaha). They simply are the folks (both two-leggers and four-leggers included) who bring the sparkle to this nitwit's life. Hence I figured it was high time to put mouse to program and honor the folks that make all our lives better (or at very least way more interesting! hahaha) Hope you like it too, gentle reader!

Now I'm off to see about making a screen of some sort.....

Sneak preview

Isn't it nice to have a sneak peek at what's going on? To be a fly on the wall.....have some special powers to see the future...well I don't have any of those, but I can turn my little pin head towards Mary Fran's computer screen and see just what's happening in Nitwitville!! Lucky me, hey?

Here's a sampling of what I am seeing.......you'll be seeing it soon, too!!

Hurry, look quick before Mary Fran catches us,

Nuts for Nitwits Blinky

Hi All!

Mary Fran has had many, many, and .....you guessed it, many requests for a nitwit blinky over the years. So as one of my new tasks, I was given the job of creating one (with a little design help from my designer wife!). Here it is, and is free for the taking if any one wants it.

Nuts for Nitwits,

LG

The Deed is Done!

The "Pet-i-cure" has been completed, and from the picture, you can see how much he has "enjoyed" this adventure in his day! (He actually was quite good about the whole ordeal!)

The "buzz-saw"effect you see on the leading edge of his ear....well....that didn't quite work out, but over all, it was the best cut he has had to date (he'll be 8 next month!)

We took him and his sister Paige for a walk this morning, and you could see through his proud smile how "People sure look at me!! (he exclaims with a swelled chest!)

We won't burst his bubble about why people are looking......sometimes a good friend's job is to tell a white lie.....what's the harm.

Finn, my beloved little guy......you're due for your bi-annual haircut. Your ear hair is 2 inches past your actual ear, and the ladies are starting to look the other way when you pass! Oh, poor sweet Finn. LG, to the rescue?

Now, we won't tell him that I am not an actual dog groomer, but tune in to see his cut over the next day or two and you be the judge. (Hint, we turn the mirrors against the wall whenever I put my scissors to him...) Thankfully, that smiling pride of his, is never hurt!! ha,ha,ha

Here is the before photo..........

Stay tuned...........

Thanks for the warm reception

Well, what a wonderful, warm reception you have all sent in to me on my new position with Nitwit Collections!! Thank you to everyone!! It really is like starting a fresh, new job, as I was at my last one for 13 years, it's been awhile since I've really done any learning. It's hard to learn new stuff, especially when my "boss", (and I do use the term loosely!ha,ha) wants to do her creating, and she's got her "employee" saying - "Hey, how do you do this?" and "Why don't you have to let out the dogs this time?"ha,ha,ha.

Well learning is good for this old brain, and scraping the cobwebs from the sill has just about used up my rag for this week. You all have a good weekend, and I'll pull Mary Fran's ear so that she can get a new release into the shop for next week.

Smilin',

LG

New Addition at Nitwit Collections!

Hello everyone!

Well there's been a new addition at Nitwit Collections! A new baby? No.... A new puppy? No.....
It's me, LG (Little General), Mary Fran's husband! I have left my day job and have accepted the new position of Assistant to the Head Nitwit (Mary Fran, of course)!!

I will be the chief cook and bottle washer, not to mention dog-letter-outer, email responder, IT manager, and overall good Joe, so as to let Mary Fran have more time to create for you wonderful folks!! So when you are asking questions at Nitwit Collections, or contacting us to just say Hi, you will now be responded to by me. I will do my best to be as nice, welcoming, and helpful as Mary Fran has been to you, but let's face it, those are some big shoes to fill!!(Well, little size 7 shoes, actually.)

Go easy on me folks as I ease my way in, but I hope to make the transition as seemless as possible, and will always be happy to hear from all of you to answer any and all questions. (But just to make sure, Mary Fran has set up my computer right beside hers, so I'm still within ear-pulling distance, ha,ha!)

Looking forward to my new position,

LG
